Worship with One Click

NOTE: In today's worship, we have a Moment For Mission with Sarah-Michelle Leonard from Communities in Schools, our liaison with Honey Dew Elementary. If you're interested in watching the entire conversation (approx. 15 minutes) , there's a link on the front page of this website.

You can choose to watch all of this Sunday's worship service in a series of linked videos, one after the other, by clicking this link. Just press the button that says "PLAY ALL" and sit back and relax. You can also just click on the graphic to the left. Otherwise, proceed as normal through the sections.

A voice cries out:
In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord,

make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
Every valley shall be lifted up,
      and every mountain and hill be made low;
the uneven ground shall become level,

and the rough places a plain.
~Isaiah 40:3-4

Are these words of comfort to you?

If you heard this with your friends and neighbors, what would you take from it?

If you heard this on the streets of Renton, with a person who sleeps in their car, what would you take from it?
Picture
Where or what is the wilderness and the desert?

Is the valley the valley of the shadow of death?

Is the mountain the place where spiritual experiences happen?

Questions, questions, questions. And there will be more to come.

No easy answers, but let us wait, remember, and look ahead together as we worship God on this Lord’s Day.

Connections with Andrea

If you have prayers you would like to share, please do so here. These will be shared by email to our St Andrew prayer list so that we pray for what you hold by name. This information is not shared online in a searchable form.

Prelude

Gathering Song

Comfort us, O God,
with a comfort that encourages us to trust you.
Comfort us, O God,
with a comfort that inspires us to be messengers of hope
that our world may be transformed,
and that it may begin here,
in this place and among these people.
Comfort us, O God,
with a comfort that strengthens us to be your light,
a flame of truth and justice in the world.
Amen.

Song of Expectation

Confession and Assurance

Send a text to a couple of people. Make a call. Who comes to mind for you? Wish them well. More than that, wish them the peace that comes with justice. Then click below.

Anthem

The Word

Comforting God,
Send your Holy Spirit to speak peace,
that the good news of this age may be proclaimed
through your Word.
Amen.

Isaiah 40:1-11 † Psalm 85: 1-2, 8-13 † 2 Peter 3:8-15a † Mark 1:1-8

Song of Response

The Eucharist

If you haven’t already, set the elements—some bread, some juice or wine—in the room or space where you worship in these days with our faith community. Set a table with things that draw out of you creativity and imagination, expectation and hope. A holy fire for justice. Food to aid and satisfy.

If a joy or a concern has come to mind, please share it with the assembly here so you do not carry it alone. These will be shared by email to our St Andrew prayer list so that we pray for what you hold by name. This information is emailed to a curated group, not shared or posted online in a searchable form.

As we respond to God's grace and new life, consider those ways you can express gratitude, thanksgiving and blessing. And remember that we continue to keep our financial commitments to our mission partners and staff. Thank you for remembering to send in your financial pledges and offerings.
