According to the prophet Isaiah, God has hopes for us. God hopes we will grow like a well-watered vineyard. A place where the gifts of God are used to grow justice and righteousness – and to ultimately bring peace. But this image of a nourishing vineyard comes to us on Sunday in texts that warn of violence. Violence and destruction that ensue when we can’t come together in the service of God’s dream for us. But this violence is not God’s dream for us. It’s not God’s hope for us or Jesus’s way for us. No, God’s dream and Jesus’ way is for us to plant and to nurture righteousness - to grow and to gift the possibility of justice and peace.
This Sunday in worship we will have a conversation with some members of St Andrew’s Learning Group who are asking: how do we learn from our community about how to participate in God’s dream for righteousness, justice, and peace. Come worship and bring your gifts to God’s dream for peace.
