Economics. Not something that we can ever seem to understand with all of its twists and turns. Yet we try. And most of the time, something has been left out in our trying. Whose work is compensated? What about generational wealth? Does the Good News support certain economies? Here’s a real button pusher: Does God desire us to be wealthy? What does it mean to be “rich toward God?” Does it mean we are greedy (‘which is idolatry’ Col. 3:5) when we make choices that will increase our wealth while possibly also decreasing others who are barely getting by? It may be too hot (literally and figuratively) for us to wrestle with this, but I trust the Holy Spirit will find a way. Let us come together on the Lord’s Day to give praise and thanksgiving to our Triune God and discover the Good News offered to us on this day. Sunday Readings: Hosea 11:1-11 • Psalm 49:1-12 • Colossians 3:1-11 • Luke 12:13-21
We continue to keep our financial commitments to our mission partners and staff. If you are not yet able to join us, thank you for remembering to send in your financial pledges and offerings or donating here.
