Worship with 1 Click

NOTE: If you'd like to try watching all of this Sunday's worship service in a series of linked videos, one after the other (with text included), you can begin by clicking this link. Just press the button that says "PLAY ALL" and sit back and relax. Otherwise, proceed as normal through the sections.
(Above is a screenshot, not a video. Clicking it will take you to the playlist)

“And not only that, but we also boast in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.”

The road to hope means hanging on together through anxiety, discomfort and uncertainty. It involves engaging challenge and disorientation together – together with each other and with the gifts of our tradition. You are invited to bring all that you carry to this worship space and to look for what it means to hang on together and live more      fully the hope to which we are called.

Bring what you need to be able to worship and remember.

Prelude

If you have prayers you would like to share, please do so here. Parents, this is a great way to encourage your children's prayers as well. These will be shared by email to our St Andrew prayer list so that we pray for what you hold by name. This information is not shared online in a searchable form.

Gathering Song

God of all power and peace,
as Jesus sent his disciples out
to heal the sick, cast out demons,
gather the lost, raise the dead,
and proclaim the nearness of your realm,
make us ready to go and share
the good news we have received;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Hymn of Praise

Loving God, without your grace we are like sheep without a shepherd.
Sometimes we are harassed by sin and feel helpless against its power.
Sometimes, in our sin, we use our own power to harass the helpless
Forgive us, O Lord, and bring us home.

Now, bless someone else. Send a text to a couple of people. Make a call. Who comes to mind for you? Wish them well. More than that, wish them the peace that comes with justice. Then click below.

Listen

Lord God,
by your Spirit teach us to obey your voice
and keep your covenant
so that we may be a priestly kingdom,
your holy people;
in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Exodus 19:2-8 † Psalm 100 † Romans 5:1-8 † Matthew 9:35-10:8*
*In the season after Pentecost (also known as Ordinary Time, or "Proper" Sundays, the first reading can follow one of two tracks—either a semi-continuous track that stays with a story over a number of Sundays or a paired track that companions more closely  the gospel reading. This summer we are mostly using the paired readings.

Song of Response

Gather, Give Thanks, and Pray

If you haven’t already, set the elements—some bread, some juice or wine—in the room where you worship electronically in these days with our faith community. Bring them with joy, giving thanks for God’s provision.

If a joy or a concern has come to mind, please share it with the assembly here so you do not carry it alone. These will be shared by email to our St Andrew prayer list so that we pray for what you hold by name. This information is emailed to a curated group, not shared or posted online in a searchable form.

As we respond to God's grace and new life, consider those ways you can express gratitude, thanksgiving and blessing. And remember that we continue to keep our financial commitments to our mission partners and staff. Thank you for remembering to send in your financial pledges and offerings!

One phrase I will not forget from Maggie's sermon today, "White lights to the front". Thanks for your thought-provoking message.
