Get involved in the worship service

Picture
A worship service takes many hands to come together.

Liturgy is literally "the work of the people." Taking an active role in the worship service can deepen your own experience of worship. In giving back, you can feel more connected to the community that you are already a part of (even if you just walked in the door last Sunday for the first time!).

We encourage you to explore these ways that you might get involved in the worship.

Bread Bakers

Picture
On the first Sunday of each month, and during the "non-ordinary" times of the church year, we offer communion at worship.  That means we need lots of people to bake a loaf of bread (or pick one up at a local bread store on their way into church that morning!).

Sound System

We have a simple sound board that runs all of the mics that we use each service.  Training is available on how to use it.  We need one volunteer on the sound board each Sunday, and always welcome more volunteers in our rotation.

Tidy the sanctuary

Tidying the sanctuary can be a simple and peaceful gift to give.  We just need people to volunteer to make the place tidy after all of our Sunday worshippers have left.  You can come during the week, enjoy the peace of the quiet sanctuary, and just tidy it up to make it ready for next Sunday's worship.

Clipboards

When you come to church, you'll notice that we have sign-ups on green clipboards.  "Doing the Clipboards" is as simple as being the person who distributes those clipboards to the chairs before the service begins, and picks them all up again after worship ends.

Greeters

"I remember the first time I went there. I arrived alone, and I wasn't sure where I was going.  And this woman with a big warm smile welcomed me so kindly at the door.  I immediately felt at ease -- like I knew I was in the right place after all."

Being a greeter is an important and delightful way to engage.  In sharing your big smile and your welcoming presence, you can help new visitors get oriented, get connected with the Nursery Guild (when applicable), and know that they are welcome here.

Ushers

Hand out programs at the beginning of the service.  Along with the Greeters, you are a welcoming presence for newcomers, available to help orient them and answer questions.
