News From NPH Honduras: 64 New Children Receive a Home

Most IHNFA programs are being shut down or restructured, including the government children’s homes and some of the foster programs, and NPH Honduras has been greatly involved in collaboration and discussion with the new authorities in order to respond to the needs of the children who had previously been part of these programs. There have been recent developments regarding changes in the relationship of NPH Honduras with the Honduran government. In the past months, the Honduran version of Childcare Services, IHNFA (acronym of Honduran Institution for Childhood and Family) has been closed down by the government and replaced by a new government institution named ​

DINAF (Directorate for Childhood, Adolescence and Family). As a result, NPH Honduras has received more than 60 new children in the past month as part of new agreements with more children expected in the months to come. Throughout this process NPH Honduras has formed strategic alliances with authorities and has been recognized as one of the principal organizations cooperating with the Honduran government.
