"STARS"   -   SENIORS/RETIREES GROUP

The SENIORS / RETIREES Group at St. Andrew has a few qualifications for membership:

1) Minimum Age: Eligible to vote in elections.

2) Maximum Age: Still breathing.

Currently, about 45 members of St. Andy meet these strict qualifications and have indicated a desire to be included. We welcome "walk ons" any time.

We meet at the church building at 11:30 every First Thursday morning for lunch and discussion. We operate on a modified potluck basis for lunch. A volunteer hostess decides on the lunch menu and arranges for other volunteers to bring the food. Works out real well. Nobody goes away hungry.

Our "year" starts in September and runs through June. At the first meeting of the year, we open the floor for volunteers to be the "facilitator" for the each of the other meetings of the year - this becomes the agenda for the balance of the year. Our June meeting is, traditionally, a picnic at Coulon Beach Memorial Park. The other meetings are varied- from a slide show about one member's visit to Mainland China - to a speaker from "Dogs for the Hearing Impaired" - to a group discussion of interesting jobs they've had - to a Bingo party. If you have a favorite idea for a meeting, be sure to come to the September meeting and volunteer to be a facilitator!
